Enjoying Late September

Hey everyone! I've been really enjoying late September and wanted to share. I had a little head cold - mostly just sinuses being wonky - and once that was over it was time to bask in the season of FALL! In Fairbanks, AK we don't get a long fall season, so we enjoy it while it lasts.

I am getting ready for a First Friday art show for October. That leaves me with little time to get some final art pieces done before the October 1st show date. The show is called "The Illustrated Crypt" and it's a group effort with me, Aisling Meehan, and Lesa Sears. River City Cafe is the host for this awesome spooky art show, Oct. 1st, starting around 5pm.

I've been making quite a few crockpot meals. I made some thick pumpkin soup. Picked up some fabulous Italian prune plums, locally grown mushrooms, and red pears from Washington. I love produce this time of year. I have 3 good size heads of red cabbage from the garden.

The downside to everything is that I picked up a head cold, but it's just about gone. It was just focused around my sinuses. What bothers me the most is that I had already take a little time away from the gym for the bigfoot expo and this just prolonged it.

Tomorrow is my new start at the gym. I need to figure out what the heck I'm going to do and just do it. I've been pretty good about sticking with eating healthy for the most part. It won't take much to tighten that up so I'm eating at 100%.

Next weekend, I'm planning a little Coffee & Film chat - Saturday, 9:30am, River City Cafe. FB event. Drink coffee, talk about local filmmaking and stuff. If you're in Fairbanks and are interested in local filmmaking and stuff, feel free to show up. It's scheduled early so you can still run errands and whatnot without it getting in the way of your day.

If things work out well, I think it would be awesome to form a local filmmaker's club or something with a monthly meeting. I would like to put together a local film festival, but I don't know if there's enough interest/material for one.

I know it's the end of September, but I've already started thinking about Christmas presents. I don't really want to spend a whole lot of money on stuff this year. I usually go pretty big and it ends up wiping me out for a month or so. I'm thinking some stuff for my nephew and food baskets (my nephew is helping me plan them out).

If you feel like helping me out a little, answer this: What do you HATE getting in a Christmas food gift basket?
